MUSHROOM CANOPY_GINKGO BIOWORKS

Have you ever walked through a tunnel of glowing mushroom caps? Ginkgo Bioworks and Studio Troika approached us to riff on a slatted entrance tunnel concept for their new lab space in Boston’s Seaport District. Our solution is this glowing undulation of soft white gills. They draw you through the doorway and envelope each entrant in a warm wrapping of fungal form. The piece consists of 45 unique polypropylene gills undulating in three dimensions. A pearlescent wall treatment reflects an ever changing top lighting into the gills.
