jm Curley

jm Curley is a restaurant in downtown Boston. The namesake of the establishment was a former mayor of Boston who spent some time in prison during his tenure. We included steel elements in our work to acknowledge the aforementioned aspects of Curley's past. Modest tableware is used with our setting to add continuity to the experience and allow the quality food/drink to be highlighted. Jaywalk paired with Zipcar to develop a special device that is inset into the table's surface. Members of the car sharing service can insert their cards into the module which activates a green light. This prompts the server to deliver a special gift from both Zipcar and jm Curley. This work is part of 'Design for Dining' which was organized by Design Museum Boston. Jaywalk is one of seven firms who participated, and the event will continue until November 2015.
